Tropical Treat Pawpaw
Discovered near the Madison Fairgrounds in Madison County, Kentucky, from seeds collected from wild trees in Beattyville and released through Walker Pawpaws.
 
A late-season cultivar prized for its excellent mild tropical flavor that appeals even to those who don’t usually enjoy pawpaws. When fully ripened to a light yellowish color-break, the flesh tastes like mild tropical vanilla custard with a medium-to-soft texture. Fruits are medium-large (about 180–200 g), productive (often 100+ per tree), and have an appealing appearance.
 
Requires a long, hot growing season (ideally with ~10+ days in the 90s°F) to develop properly; otherwise fruits may be smaller, seedier, and less flavorful.
 
Best suited to the middle-to-southern pawpaw range. Somewhat wispy growth habit.
