FAQ's
Where do you ship?
This answer is a little complicated - as it depends on what item you are referring to. As a licensed plant nursery in the state of Kentucky we are able to ship plants across the country, but there are still quarantine requirements that vary by state. I will explain the broad strokes of it below -
Pawpaw/Persimmon Trees & Seeds CANNOT be shipped to CA, HI, OR, WA, AK
Chestnut Trees & Seeds CANNOT be shipped to CA, HI, OR, WA, MI, LA, AK
Other trees/seeds will vary based on state so please send an email at Sales@NormanFamilyFarms.com
Can I use these trees to attract wildlife?
While the fruit and nut trees we sell are bred with the intent to become orchard style trees to produce fruit and nuts for human consumption, they make amazing wildlife trees! Just think, if a human wants to eat it, good luck keeping a deer away from it!
That being said, we do recommend you put tree tubes/cages around your new trees to protect your investment.
What is the proper spacing for planting trees?
The proper spacing depends on tree species and specific goals you have in mind. Let's break a few of the easy ones down below.
Pawpaw can be planted 7.5 feet by 12 feet (or whatever lets you drive a machine that cuts grass between them the easiest)
Persimmon is best planted at 15x15 if you want to harvest the fruit in an orchard setting, but can be planted almost touching in rows if you are planting for wildlife attraction.
Chestnut is best planted at least 20x20.
