Halvin Pawpaw

A wild selection discovered by Tyler and Danae Halvin in southeastern Iowa, near Bedford. Considered one of the largest-fruited native (wild) pawpaws known from the region.
 
An early-season cultivar (late August in Kentucky) producing medium-large to large fruits (roughly 8–14 oz / 225–400 g) with creamy, dense texture and low seed-to-pulp ratio.
 
Flavor is very sweet, smooth, and mellow—classic tropical notes of pineapple, banana, and mango—with no bitter aftertaste.
 
Fruits typically borne as singles or small clusters of 2–3.
 
Vigorous growth and notably cold-hardy and resilient, making it an excellent choice for northern or USDA Zone 5 edge plantings.
