Chestnut Cultivar Seedlings - up to 36 inches tall

These Chestnut Trees are 1-year grow outs from well known chestnut cultivars. They are planted in air pruning beds to provide the best possible root system prior to transplanting into your orchard or wildlife planting. Shipped bareroot and dormant, up to 36 inches of growth above the root ball. Most of these trees will produce nuts within 3-5 years of planting as long as planting instructions are followed and USDA requirements are met. Will require 2 or more trees to ensure proper pollination.

Seed sourced from growers of famous chestnut cultivars ( https://centerforagroforestry.org/resource/chestnut-improvement-network/ )

You can expect these trees to be offspring from the current best the market has to offer, making each tree likely to equal or surpass it's parents in productivity, bearing age, and taste.

USDA Zones 5-9 (Chestnuts have successfully been planted in Zones 4 and even 3 in the right micro climates)

Wildlife considerations:

While these trees were ultimately bred for human consumption, ask anyone who has ever grown a chestnut tree how hard it is to prevent deer from stealing part of your crop. The benefit of using a known orchard type tree with a proven record of early production is two fold. Your trees produce nuts sooner, and you can eat or sell what the deer don't.

The market slogan right now is "Deer prefer chestnut to acorns at a rate of 100 to 1". If you don't have chestnuts planted right now...just hope your neighbor doesn't either.
